Master Class Reloaded: Horror

 In the world of action figure photography, artists are always letting their imaginations run wild in order to craft their story in miniature scale. Action sequences, comedic imagery, and suspenseful dramatic shots fuel the community with inspiration to continue taking out their cameras and posting their artwork.

Being as we are at the culmination of spooky season on this all hollows eve, and the Master Class is making its return after a long hiatus, it seemed only fitting that we bring it all the way back to the beginning. The very first Master Class is being reloaded, as Toy Addict 17 and Scary Figures make their horrific return with another Horror Master Class collaboration.

So take out your pens, pads, and slasher weapon of choice, because the Master Class is now in session.

@scary_figures has been creating action figure photography since 2019, with a catalog of over three thousand incredible pictures of figures of horror, super hero’s, Kaiju, and movies of all kinds. He remains one of the most consistent artists on IG with a burgeoning base of followers, all enjoying his creative imagery and unique story telling in each shot. Please be sure to head over to his page to follow, and enjoy his incredible artwork.

@toy_addict17 has been bringing iconic horror shots to the IG community since 2020, with over eight hundred pictures in his catalog. His style of creating poster quality shots of horror icons always inspires and leaves the viewer in awe. Be sure to visit his page on IG and follow to see more of his incredible work.

The Master Class has always been a place to shine a spotlight on the artists in the collaboration, and bring forth their creative input for the community to learn and be inspired. This time around however, I simply asked the artists to share some insight on the process of creating their shot, what inspired them, and what motivates them to keep up the work they create.

Scary Figures had this to say;

“I was inspired for the shot from the end of Halloween II, and even after having this Michael figure, I haven’t done a whole lot of iconic images. I figured it would be perfect for Halloween. One tip I have from this picture is to have patience, a lot of those fire FX didn’t want to stay put, but I eventually got it to look the way I want it just took longer than expected. I always say keep practicing. Even if I don’t have any ideas or inspiration I try to take a few pictures here and there just to keep it up and see what I can do.”

As far as iconic imagery inspired by the movies go, the Halloween franchise has an abundance like no other. Scary Figures definitely knocked it out of the park with his choice, and the execution is incredible.

Toy Addict had this to say;

“I am big fan of the original ‘78 Halloween movie. It’s a movie that has inspired the horror genre as a whole. So many iconic scenes and moments come from that film. I chose to recreate in my own the style the ghost Bob scene. Such and iconic scene. I love how Michael, although he already has a mask to disguise his face, he uses a sheet and Bob’s glasses to fool his victim. It shows how clever Michael is. I went really simple on this shot, sometimes less is more. I used the jack o lantern for extra lighting. I wanted to showcase Michael with the sheet holding his knife, and the pumpkin to represent how although he was out stalking the teens he never forgets the holiday.”

Another incredibly executed representation of an iconic movie moment, created in action figure form.

I’d like to once again thank Scary Figures and Toy Addict for taking time to join in on this Master Class: Reloaded Horror collaboration. Please be sure to visit each of their pages to like and follow for more of their amazing action figure photography. And feel free to scroll through this Master Class blog to see their previous horror themed collab, as well as all the other outstanding collabs that have been showcased here.

So until next time, never forget to be creative and have as much fun as you can. Enjoy your hobby, and never take yourself too serious. Class is now dismissed.
