Master Class Reloaded: Horror

Image
In the world of action figure photography, artists are always letting their imaginations run wild in order to craft their story in miniature scale. Action sequences, comedic imagery, and suspenseful dramatic shots fuel the community with inspiration to continue taking out their cameras and posting their artwork. Being as we are at the culmination of spooky season on this all hollows eve, and the Master Class is making its return after a long hiatus, it seemed only fitting that we bring it all the way back to the beginning. The very first Master Class is being reloaded, as Toy Addict 17 and Scary Figures make their horrific return with another Horror Master Class collaboration.   So take out your pens, pads, and slasher weapon of choice, because the Master Class is now in session.  @scary_figures has been creating action figure photography since 2019, with a catalog of over three thousand incredible pictures of figures of horror, super hero’s, Kaiju, and movies of all ki...

Power Rangers: Once and Always

April 19th 2023 marked the 30th Anniversary of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers as well as the world premier of Once & Always, a netflix special starring some of the OG Power Rangers cast returning to their legendary roles to face a new threat. With such a monumental occasion taking place for Power Rangers fans, The Masters Class thought it only fitting to slip out of its physical form and into a large glass tube to put on its best Zordon act and assemble a team of action figure photographers with attitude! This week we have scoured the toy photography community for six artists fit to suit up and protect the world from Rita and her minions. Each photographer was given one of the original members of the team to take their best shot with and questions pertaining to not only their tips and tricks behind their action figure photography, but their thoughts and opinions on the franchise over all. Making their Morphinominal debut to The Masters Class for this “Once & Always” spectacular a...

Masters Class: LEGO

When speaking about toy photography, one of the subjects that causes a lot of discussion in the community is how things scale. Certain lines put out certain characters, and the scale sometimes can play havoc with having characters cross the boundaries of the multiverse to square off against another. Marvel Legends scale with certain things well, where Neca and McFarlane figures generally only scale with themselves. This sort of thing can cause the artist some fits when it comes to having a fantasy face off between characters they love. After all, Hulk vs Batman should look like a mismatch with Batman being much smaller.   In the realm of collecting and shooting photos of toys, there’s one company that stands out for putting a plethora of fictional characters in their products, and have them remain to scale with one another. Only one toy company has the licensing to such a wide variety of worlds, where you could have Darth Vader and Lord Voldemort fighting Superman and Super ...

Masters Class Presents: The Photo Shop with Clintastic4

Image
For this edition of the Masters Class we have done something that has yet to be done on this page, and presumably has never been done within the toy community in general. The concept had planted roots from a conversation with Instagram's resident Photoshop Wizard @Clintastic4, or as we have come to call him, Clintastic the Great and Powerful. We had been discussing ideas of shows for group of us, and Clint had mentioned an idea of a show called "The Photo Shop" in which he would take a shot from someone else, and do a step by step breakdown of how he could turn it into a veritable masterpiece of photoshop art. After letting the roots take hold, and likely more suggestions and prying than Clint had anticipated from a comment he had made, I had reached out to Clintastic inquiring whether or not he would be interested in participating in another Masters Class collaboration regarding photoshop, and to try out his idea in that manner. Full disclosure, and dont believe him if ...
